Prisma® SASE + Talon Enterprise Browser: Revolutionizing Security Service Edge

By Ofer Ben Noon, CEO | December 28, 2023

It’s official! Talon Cyber Security has been acquired by Palo Alto Networks®, and we could not be more excited about what’s to come.

Palo Alto Networks is the global cybersecurity leader, and Palo Alto Networks Prisma® SASE offering is the industry’s most complete, single-vendor SASE solution. The combination of Prisma SASE and the Talon Enterprise Browser will empower customers with the ability to easily secure any user, in any location, on any device (managed or unmanaged), all while delivering the exceptional user experiences that organizations expect.

How We Got Here

The modern work environment, characterized by hybrid models, third-party contributors, and diverse application delivery methods, leads to significant dispersion of users and applications. Employees and third parties work from corporate offices, home offices, and while on the go – all from different types of devices.

Some companies only allow access from corporate-owned devices, but in today’s digital age, many allow unmanaged devices into their environments, via BYOD policies and work done by third parties like contractors, vendors, and partners.

All these trends have led us to this pivotal moment…

What is the one common denominator across any user, any location, and any device? In today’s connected world, it is the browser. It’s the first application that you open when you log into your computer, and the most-heavily used application for work.

The combination of SASE and the Enterprise Browser couldn’t make more sense.

Security for Managed and Unmanaged Devices

When looking at security for managed, corporate-owned devices, Prisma SASE provides the perfect combination of advanced security and exceptional user experiences. It allows customers to safely connect users, whether they are at home, traveling, or at the office, to all applications they need to do their jobs, such as legacy, web, and cloud-native applications. This is all achieved while enabling organization IT and Security teams to monitor and manage the traffic effectively.

On the flip side, security for unmanaged devices has been a continuous challenge for organizations to tackle. If a device is not managed by the organization, security policies cannot be consistently enforced, and if an unmanaged user accesses corporate applications and resources, an organization’s risk profile increases significantly.

This is exactly why Palo Alto Networks is thrilled to introduce the Talon Enterprise Browser to its portfolio. By approaching security through the browser, customers can isolate the browser from both managed and unmanaged endpoints, and enable secure access to corporate resources for ANY user that accesses applications and data, whether it be from a corporate-owned device, an employee’s personal device as part of a BYOD program, or a device used by a contractor, partner, or other third-party.

The Benefits for Customers

Prisma SASE and Talon’s Enterprise Browser complement each other perfectly. Customers can establish secure access on managed devices with Prisma SASE and use Talon on unmanaged devices to gain visibility and control over applications and data accessed via the browser.

The combination of Prisma SASE and Talon will help enable customers to:

  • Identify and verify all users, devices, and applications with enhanced context gathering that enables passwordless verification and provides security for every device.
  • Enforce least privilege policies that are context-based, which can be applied based on business needs, and automatically deny access to any user that does not meet certain criteria.
  • Apply holistic security inspections so that core security policies are in place across all users, locations, and devices.
  • Enforce all data access and movement to ensure that corporate data can be accessed by who needs it, when they need it, and that it stays where it should.
  • Optimize user and operational experiences via unified management, AI-based operations, and user-to-app visibility that enables IT teams to ensure unmatched productivity and efficiency.
  • End-to-end visibility across the network, applications and all endpoints, to ensure better security and optimal operations.

The Next Chapter

This next chapter is going to be an exciting one, for our employees, partners, and most importantly, our customers.
