Talon’s Series A: It’s About a Lot More than Money

By Ofer Ben Noon, CEO | August 4, 2022

Exciting day here at Talon…

We have just announced our $100 million Series A funding round from some of the most impactful forces in the security industry.

The round was led by the incredible team at Evolution Equity Partners, with participation from Ballistic Ventures, CrowdStrike’s Falcon Fund, Merlin Ventures, SYN Ventures and previous investors CrowdStrike co-founder and CEO, George Kurtz, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sorenson Ventures and Team8 Capital.

This marks one of the first times in history that six (6!) cyber-focused investment firms have backed a company in the same round. To have the support of individuals like Richard Seewald, Kevin Mandia, Jake Seid, Ted Schlein, Jay Leek, Patrick Heim, Nadav Zafrir and George Kurtz is an accomplishment that I am incredibly proud of as a career cybersecurity entrepreneur.

These leaders have moved security ahead for organizations like AVG Technologies, CrowdStrike, Cylance, Mandiant, Symantec, The Blackstone Group and many more. It just doesn’t get better than that…

When Ohad and I launched Talon, we set our sights on not only building the best possible team and technology, but truly redefining and changing the trajectory of the broader security market. To do this successfully, we understood that we had to align ourselves with like-minded individuals that have aggressive goals, are visionary and have cyber operations experience. This is why we have partnered with strategic investors that know what it takes to drive innovation and bring meaningful change for security professionals.

Why? Because they have done it before and are helping us on our mission to do the same. As an entrepreneur, aside from the specific technology and problem, which hopefully are novel, I believe that everything else we go through, our peers have gone through as well, and we should learn from the best.

For this reason, I am more excited about the group of investors behind us than the amount of capital we have raised. They have already changed the industry as operators and are ready to do it again through their hands-on support of our team and technology.

Look… I won’t lie to you. Creating and leading a market category is no simple task. High level of stress, many challenges and many ups and downs. But with this team behind us, I am confident that we will continue to drive our mission forward and work tirelessly to make a difference for our customers.

Obviously, this is an incredibly exciting milestone for us, and one that we will take time to celebrate. But as an entrepreneur, I always ask myself a basic question before making any decision or celebrating any accomplishment…

Why now?

With Talon, the “why now?” is even more exciting to me than the stability additional funding provides or any of our recent large customer wins.

Why now? The world and the applications that the largest organizations rely on are moving to the web. SaaS adoption, the use of third-party contractors and distributed work are through the roof in the average environment, creating a burning need for a solution that can provide secure access to applications in a way that is non-invasive and delivers two key elements: enterprise-grade security and exceptional user experiences.

While we still have most of the capital raised to date in the bank, with the financial downturn, we understood this is the right time to raise our A round — to increase the comfort for our customers and employees, to be able to be more opportunistic when the right opportunities arise, and to signal to ourselves that we are going to build something big here at Talon. This financing provides the ammo we need to continue to show the world why the ideal solution for distributed workforces is our secure enterprise browser, TalonWork.

If you think about it, it makes sense. What is the one common denominator across any device and operating system? What do workers use to connect back to the business regardless of location or device? It’s the browser, and with Talon, our customers are making this heavily-used application the first line of defense for their security programs.

To our world-class team, customers, partners and investors – THANK YOU so much for your trust. You are amazing, and I am so proud and happy to partner with you. I don’t take this trust lightly, and I look forward to continuing to work together to change what security looks like for modern workforces.

Time to get back to work.

The mission continues…
